Hello, my name is Michelle and I am a fully qualified Therapist based at CBT and Counselling Surrey Guildford practice. I hold a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and I’m accredited by the MBACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) and the UKRCP (United Kingdom Register for Counsellors and Psychotherapists)
Although I qualified as a Psychodynamic Therapist, I tend to work in a more eclectic and creative way. Which means I use a variety of different therapeutic approaches to suit your unique situation and individual needs. I frequently use the powerful techniques of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to help you examine how your thoughts and feelings shape your experiences. Whichever approach we use, my aim is to help you find a more positive way forward.
Perhaps it’s the first time you have sought therapy and you are wondering what to expect. Or maybe you have had counselling before. Whatever your situation, I do appreciate that it can take great courage to reach out for help. However, please rest assured, I create a warm, safe environment in order for you to feel comfortable enough to open up about what is going on for you. I will be there to listen to your experiences and help you process your experience and help you process this for yourself.
At the beginning of our first session, I’ll ask about your hopes and goals for therapy. It’s absolutely fine if you’re unsure or have mixed feelings – we can work together to bring clarity and focus to your therapy journey.
I work with a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, anger, bereavement, trauma, OCD, phobias, post-traumatic stress, work-related challenges, abuse, ADD/ADHD, and addiction.
I also have experience supporting individuals on the autism spectrum, those dealing with childhood-related challenges, and people managing chronic fatigue syndrome or ME.
In addition to this, I’m accredited in Counselling and Play Therapy for children age 3+
As an accredited member of MBACP and UKRCP and PTUK and ACC, I adhere to their ethical guidelines, ongoing supervision and CPD (Continual Professional Development) to ensure I provide the best possible service to my clients.

My journey to becoming a Counsellor started with my own struggles with emotional well-being. Experiencing difficult times revealed the transformative power of therapy, where compassionate, non-judgmental support gave me the strength to overcome personal obstacles. This experience inspired my deep passion for helping others access the same understanding and care.
I transitioned from the corporate world to follow this calling, earning an advanced diploma in psychotherapy. This qualification equipped me to work with complex emotional challenges. To enhance my skills, I pursued training in trauma-informed practices, including the Rewind Technique for Trauma. This allows me to offer specialised support for deeply rooted concerns, such as childhood trauma and long-standing emotional difficulties.
Beyond my clinical work, I volunteered with MacMillan UK as a Telephone Buddy, providing emotional support to individuals affected by cancer and their carers. This experience further strengthened my commitment to empathetic, client-centred care, helping me grow as a compassionate and responsive therapist.

I hold a BA Honours Degree in Integrative-Relational Counselling and specialise in individual therapy for adults of all ages. As a registered member of the BACP and BAATN, I welcome everyone with compassion and without judgement. My aim is to provide a warm, safe space where you can relax and be yourself
Focusing on your needs isn’t selfish—it’s a generous act of self-care. Counselling provides a unique anchor and safe space to belong and be yourself. It’s a space to navigate your experiences, thoughts, and feelings. Whether facing current challenges or past events that impact happiness, I’m here to support you. During our therapy sessions, I will draw upon my training and experience in Integrative Relational Psychotherapeutic Counselling, Internal Family Systems (or “Parts work”), and Deep Brain Reorienting (particularly for trauma). This allows me to tailor an approach that best suits your unique needs. I integrate various methods, including Person-Centred, Psychodynamic, Existential, Relational, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and mindfulness-based approaches.
Im passionate about Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy. This is because it offers a gentle, respectful way to connect with often-unheard parts of ourselves. IFS encourages individuals to explore their inner world with compassion, understanding that each part—whether anxious, protective, or critical—serves a purpose and has positive intentions. This approach helps create space for genuine self-acceptance and strengthens the connection to a resilient, compassionate self. I find that IFS empowers clients to experience deep, lasting healing and authentic growth.

Together, we can build a strong alliance where you feel safe, connected, affirmed, and validated.
