Therapy Guildford

Hi, I’m Andrea, a fully qualified and accredited Psychotherapist, offering support based at CBT & Counselling Guildford. I have a Diploma in Hypno-Psychotherapeutic Counselling DHPC and I’m an Accredited Member of the UK Council of Psychotherapy (UKCP)

I’m a specialist in adult individual therapy, helping people like you who may be facing difficult challenges such as anxiety, depression, and trauma, including childhood trauma. I have an advanced diploma in Psychotherapy and I’m a trauma-informed certified practitioner.

If you’re feeling anxious, exhausted,  lost, or find yourself struggling with persistent feelings and behaviours, you’re not alone. These challenges can feel overwhelming but they don’t have to define your life. My practice offers a personalised approach, crafted specifically for your unique needs. Together, we’ll work to understand your experiences, challenges, and strengths, helping you break free from obstacles and move toward a more fulfilling life with clarity and long-lasting solutions.

My Approach

My approach to therapy is grounded in empathy and respect for each person’s innate healing potential. I create a safe, non-judgmental space where you can freely explore concerns, ask questions, and feel understood.

At the beginning of our first session I will ask you what you would like to achieve through having therapy. If you are not sure at this moment in time, that’s okay, I will help you find clarity. Together, we will discuss your challenges and clarify how therapy can support you and we will at a pace that suits you. I will tailor our sessions to your needs. which means I might use the Integrating Person-Centred, Psychodynamic, and Cognitive-Behavioral (CBT) Methods.

The Person-Centred approach emphasises your capacity for growth and self-understanding, while the psychodynamic aspect explores past influences on current behaviours and beliefs. CBT techniques help challenge unhelpful thoughts and build constructive inner narratives. My goal is to provide practical tools and insights, fostering resilience and alignment with your authentic self. I prioritise efficiency, adapting my approach to ensure you experience timely, meaningful progress toward a fulfilling life.

Background and Experience

My journey to becoming a Counsellor started with my own struggles with emotional well-being. Experiencing difficult times revealed the transformative power of therapy, where compassionate, non-judgmental support gave me the strength to overcome personal obstacles. This experience inspired my deep passion for helping others access the same understanding and care.

I transitioned from the corporate world to follow this calling, earning an advanced diploma in psychotherapy. This qualification equipped me to work with complex emotional challenges. To enhance my skills, I pursued training in trauma-informed practices, including the Rewind Technique for Trauma. This allows me to offer specialised support for deeply rooted concerns, such as childhood trauma and long-standing emotional difficulties.

Beyond my clinical work, I volunteered with MacMillan UK as a Telephone Buddy, providing emotional support to individuals affected by cancer and their carers. This experience further strengthened my commitment to empathetic, client-centred care, helping me grow as a compassionate and responsive therapist.
