    About Sian

Sian works online with clients across Surrey and the UK.

My name is Sian Jones, and I am a fully qualified counsellor and cognitive behavioural therapist with over 16 years’ experience. I provide a warm, supportive and non-judgemental space where we can explore the difficulties you are experiencing. My approach is straightforward and empathetic, helping you feel at ease while we work together to reduce emotional distress and make lasting positive changes.

I specialise in Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT), a well-established approach within CBT. REBT focuses on how our emotions and behaviours are influenced by the beliefs we hold about ourselves, other people and the world around us. Through this structured approach, I help you identify and challenge self-defeating beliefs and develop more constructive and realistic alternatives.

I believe that the relationship between therapist and client is one of the most important factors in effective therapy. Many of my clients value the active role I take in the process. I do not simply sit and nod. I offer reflections, guidance and genuine conversation to help you see the wood for the trees and bring greater clarity to your thinking.

My aim is to help you feel more confident in making the choices that are right for your life and emotional wellbeing. I provide practical tools and a clear framework to help you understand your difficulties, respond to them differently and move forward with greater confidence.

    Background & Experience

My decision to become a therapist grew from a long-standing interest in psychology and an understanding of why people think, feel and behave as they do. I retrained alongside working full time, completing my BSc (Hons) in Psychology and undertaking extensive further training in CBT, REBT and psychotherapy over a ten-year period.

Before becoming a therapist, I spent many years working in management roles within the corporate world of Coca-Cola. This experience gave me a practical understanding of workplace pressure, responsibility, difficult decisions and the challenges of balancing work with other areas of life. It also strengthened my communication, problem-solving and organisational skills, which continue to shape the focused and practical approach I bring to therapy.

“A really positive experience!!!! Being able to do the sessions from home made it much easier for us with work and the children. Sian was warm and fair to both. It was amazing how quickly she drilled down to find out both our perspectives, she also said that couple therapy it was like holding a mirror up to us both to see how our individual behaviour might not be helping the relationship, but she never once blamed either of us. Highly insightful!”

“I went for Counselling because my temper was starting to affect my relationship. I didn't really know what to expect but Sian was great. I learnt to notice when I was getting wound up before it got too far and deal with things differently. My partner has noticed a difference too which probably says more than I can. I also didn’t feel embarrassed, which is what I was worried about”

“I was a bit cynic about therapy but decided to give it a go as I was struggling with anger and getting irritated over quite small things. Sian was really down to earth and very easy to talk to and didn't make me feel like I was being judged. We looked at what was actually behind some of my reactions and how I could catch myself earlier rather than going from nought to 100. I now know that my reactions were usually irrational. I would recommend Sian to anyone who gets angry easily”

“We came to counselling after trust had been broken in our relationship and at the time I wasn't sure whether we would stay together. The first few sessions weren't easy and there were definitely things that were difficult to hear, but Sian never took sides and somehow managed to keep us talking even when one of us wanted to shut down. Over time we started to understand what had happened between us rather than just going over the same arguments. We also learnt how differently we both deal with conflict, which explained quite a lot! We still have things to work on but we feel like a couple again rather than two people constantly against each other. I'm very grateful to Sian for all her help and would recommend couple counselling to anyone.”

“Had CBT for anxiety and found it really helpful. Sian made me feel comfortable from the first session and never felt judged. I do sometimes have anxious days but I cope with them so much better now. Thank you!”

“I wish I'd done CBT sooner. I had got into a horrible cycle of worrying about everything and then worrying about the fact I was worrying! My sessions with Sian really helped me understand what was going on and gave me things I could actually do when my anxiety started. I'm not suddenly someone who never worries, but it doesn't take over in the way it used to.”
