    About Jolanta

Welcome, my name is Jolanta and I'm a fully qualified and experienced Integrative Counsellor providing a warm, friendly, inclusive and professional space for adults, couples, and young people aged 16+. My approach is grounded in the belief that therapy should be tailored to your unique needs. By drawing on evidence-based methods such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), combined with Mindfulness and Solution Focused Therapy, EMDR ( Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing ) amongst others. I help you manage the unhelpful thoughts, feelings, and behaviours that may be leaving you feeling overwhelmed or out of control.

I work in a relational way, ensuring you feel safe and comfortable from our very first session. I understand that opening up takes immense courage, especially if you are new to therapy or have had difficult experiences in the past. My goal is to provide a compassionate, confidential, and non-judgmental environment where you can get to know yourself better, learn new skills, identify clear goals, and gain the insight necessary to manage your challenges effectively.

An important aspect of our work together involves active engagement between sessions. This includes practicing new coping skills, self-reflection, and self-care. I will guide you through this process at your own pace, ensuring you understand the value of these tools in creating lasting change. Whether you are navigating anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties, we will work together to help you regain a sense of empowerment and confidence in your life.

    Background & Experience

I have lived in the UK for over 30 years, originally moving here from Poland. My personal experience as an emigrant, navigating a new culture, language, jobs and family life, has given me a deep understanding of the challenges associated with major cultural and life transitions. I offer therapy in both English and Polish, and I am dedicated to supporting individuals from all walks of life, including those from diverse social, ethnic and LGBTQIA+ backgrounds. I am very passionate about supporting my clients in making positive changes in their lives.

Before becoming a counsellor, I spent 20 years teaching and mentoring at several London colleges. This career allowed me to work closely with individuals facing complex mental health issues, learning difficulties, social inequalities, and relationship and personal challenges. Over the last ten years, I have refined my therapeutic practice through roles at Kingston University and the Kingston Women’s Centre, as well as in private practice. My life experience, along with my training in Teaching, Psychology and Special Educational Needs, has helped me to understand and support neurodivergent individuals, including those with ADHD, autism, dyslexia and dyspraxia.

I am a Registered Member of the BACP and adhere strictly to their ethical guidelines. This includes ongoing supervision and continuous professional development to ensure that the support I provide is of the highest standard.
