Hello, I’m Katrina Voysey, a Psychotherapist and Relational Counsellor with over 30 years of experience. I currently practice at CBT and Counselling Coulsdon. My training as a psychotherapist was through ‘Spectrum Training’ one of the world’s leading humanistic therapy centres.
Throughout my career, I have pursued continual professional development, including training in body awareness, creative arts and imagery. My specialist trainings inform me in supporting you through trauma, grief, anxiety, sexual and relational concerns, body image issues, and disordered eating.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). It sets standards for therapeutic practice and is committed to ensuring safe, ethical, and effective care in the field of counselling and psychotherapy.
I have experience supporting diverse groups, including individuals with ADHD, those living with disabilities, autistic individuals, young homeless people, refugees, children, and the elderly. I welcome people from all backgrounds, sexual orientations, and ethnicities.
Background and Experience
Starting in marketing and consumer insights, I moved into counselling in 1994, focusing first on victims of crime, including those affected by burglary, assault, domestic violence, and sexual assault. I later provided bereavement support in one of London’s most diverse boroughs, helping adults and children, many of whom had experienced the loss of loved ones due to civil conflict in their home countries.
I incorporated various methods during my therapy, beyond just talking – such as imagery, body awareness, and sandtray as it offered clients a safe, containing ways of exploring, expressing and resolving their feelings. This approach has proven transformative, often helping clients reconnect with their capacity for playfulness, problem-solving skills and delight in the world. I have also developed training in these techniques for other counsellors.
After relocating within London, I counselled individuals with vision impairments, taught creative writing, and launched a private psychotherapy practice., supporting clients in managing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, childhood trauma, body image issues, and eco-anxiety, among other challenges.
My practice has been enriched by diverse experiences, including parenting, living in France for three years, co-founding an improvisational theatre company, volunteering with an anxiety charity, and engaging in spiritual practices. I’m increasingly interested in how environmental issues affect mental well-being.
