Quick Summary: Here’s a short introduction to Michelle and how she can help — you can read more about her below.
Michelle is an experienced and accredited therapist offering counselling for adults, couples, and children aged 3+. She works with a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, OCD, bereavement, relationship problems, and neurodiversity. Michelle blends Psychodynamic Therapy with other approaches such as CBT, Person-Centred Therapy, and creative methods to suit each client’s needs. With over 10 years in private practice and a background in fostering, youth work, and play therapy, she provides a safe and supportive space where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered to make lasting positive changes.
Hello, my name is Michelle and I am a fully qualified therapist based at CBT and Counselling Surrey’s Guildford practice. I hold a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and I am accredited by the MBACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) and the UKRCP (United Kingdom Register for Counsellors and Psychotherapists).
Although I originally trained as a Psychodynamic Therapist, I work in an eclectic and creative way, drawing from a variety of approaches to suit your unique needs. I often use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to explore how your thoughts and feelings influence your experiences. Whatever the approach, my goal is always to help you find a more positive way forward.
Whether this is your first time seeking therapy or you’ve had counselling before, I understand it takes courage to reach out. I provide a warm, safe environment where you can feel comfortable sharing what’s on your mind. At the start of our first session, we will talk about your hopes and goals for therapy — but it’s fine if you are not yet sure. We can explore this together.
Before qualifying as a counsellor over 10 years ago, I fostered children as a single parent, worked as a Church of England youth worker for 18 years, and was a residential social worker for 6 years. This experience has given me deep insight into people from a wide range of backgrounds and situations.Since starting my private practice in 2004, I have specialised in trauma, neurodiversity, adoption, and family work. I have also worked within the court system on divorce matters, trained as a supervisor for other therapists, and qualified as an adoption counsellor with Barnardo’s.
How I Can Help You
In therapy, I will walk alongside you, providing a safe, confidential space where you feel truly listened to and validated. I will encourage honesty and self-reflection, helping you to connect with your thoughts and feelings, and move towards a more positive and balanced way of being.

Additionally, I’ve provided short-term counselling for anxiety and depression through the NHS.
With 25 years of experience in government organisations, including leadership roles, I gained valuable insight into managing staff and coping with corporate stress. I draw on this experience to support those facing work-related stress and corporate pressures in my counselling practice.
