Hello, my name is Deborah Leaver and I’m a fully qualified Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist. I have a CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and extensive experience working with individuals and couples.
Whether you’re struggling with conflict or seeking positive change, I’m passionate about empowering individuals to overcome challenges through practical, evidence-based strategies. My approach will be tailored to meet your specific needs. I work with people from all walks of life, including diverse social, cultural, religious, LGBTQIA+, and neurodiverse backgrounds.
I use an ‘Integrative Approach’ to therapy which allows me to draw on a wide range of techniques, so I can provide the right support for your unique situation.
My approach to therapy
Whether working with people facing anxiety, depression, or life changing issues, I’m committed to helping you foster resilience and build skills that promote long-term change. Taking a consistent and empathetic approach, I strive to make a positive impact on the lives of the people I see. Therefore empowering you to lead a fulfilling and balanced life
Together, we will look at your feelings and behaviours and utilise CBT techniques to help identify and reframe negative thought patterns, break unhelpful behavioural cycles, and develop healthier coping mechanisms. My approach is centred on collaboration, guiding you to set and achieve your personal goals in a supportive, non-judgmental environment. Where relevant, and if you are happy to, I may also use other talking therapy styles to explore how your childhood, life experiences and communication styles may be affecting relationships in your wider network today.
As a registered member of BACP (British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy) I adhere to their ethical guidelines. I also have ongoing supervision and CPD (continual professional development) to ensure the service I provide the best possible service to my clients.
Before becoming a therapist, I worked as a Management Consultant, mainly in the legal sector. I’ve also supported clients through charities, dealing with bereavement, domestic violence, and substance misuse. I continue to work for one of these charities because I believe therapy should be available to everyone who needs it.
In addition to my charity work, I run a thriving private practice, where I see both individuals and couples—either in person or online. I regularly attend workshops and training to ensure I provide the most effective and up-to-date therapy for you.
I also hold an Enhanced DBS certificate and Professional Indemnity Insurance, so you can feel confident and safe working with me.
