Counselling Farnham

Hello, my name is Diana Brotherton and I’m a highly experienced Therapist based at CBT and Counselling Farnham. I have a Masters in Counselling and Psychotherapy and a Bsc (hons) in Psychology. I’m also an accredited member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).

I provide support for every kind of problem, such as anxiety, depression. trauma and/or anger. Altongside, therapy for loss or bereavement, work related stress or issues, low self-esteem or relationship difficulties, which often lead to emotional dysregulation.

Relationships are complex yet delicate, like snow crystals, shaped by our owm (and otthers)  feelings,  imagination or hopes. Often, we find ourselves facing an impasse while navigating our relationships, tangled in a web of inter-relationships with others.

Perhaps you fare feeling stuck in your personal journey by others’ hopes or aspirations? Or maybe you feel pressured to conform, leaving your best self stifled and stable happiness out of reach? Perhaps other factors, like loss, long-term illness, or a lack of support due to distance, also contribute to emotional dysregulation and psychological distress.

I may use various therapeutic techniques tailored to your specific needs. Which might include aspects of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) through a mindfulness approach. I also consider your overall wellbeing, helping to highlight the link between mental health and factors like nutrition, exercise, and sleep.

I welcome individuals from all backgrounds, including diverse sexual orientations and ethnicities, aiming to reflect on each person’s unique life experiences from an existential ethical perspective.

My approach to therapy

  • I offer a safe, non-judgmental space where, through open conversation in everyday language, you can let your inner voice be heard and perhaps rediscover your passions and aspirations.
  • My aim is to help you explore relationship dilemmas through deeper reflection, so you and your loved ones can pursue more fulfilling lives.
  • My therapeutic approach is engaging, creative, and proactive, using various tools to support your specific goals.
  • I work integratively, drawing from humanistic/existential thinking, psychoanalytic concepts, and continental philosophy.
